ICNDT WORKSHOP, TUESDAY 17TH APRIL 2012

AN ICNDT WORKSHOP ON QUALIFICATION, CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATION WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY 17TH APRIL 2012, 14:00 TO 18:00

We in the NDT field possibly have the most tested and controlled workforce of any industry, and this is indicative of the importance that is placed upon personnel competence where the consequences of failure are often unimaginable and always unacceptable.

During the years 2010 and 2011, there have been a large number of major projects promising significant and exciting developments in the field of personnel certification for NDT. These include developments in standardisation (ISO/IEC DIS 17024, EN ISO FDIS 9712, ISO TS 11774 and EN 4179), an International Committee for NDT (ICNDT) global multilateral recognition agreement (MRA) and a system for ICNDT assessment and approval of NDT personnel certification bodies (PCB) as a substitute for, or in addition to accreditation.

In addition, there has been a drive in many of the major emerging economies – particularly in Asia – to establish 3rd party NDT personnel certification schemes to sit alongside or replace the existing 2nd party programmes.

All of the above developments auger well for the NDT community during the coming years, and the week commencing Monday 16th April 2012 sees the 18th WCNDT being staged in Durban, RSA, during which much of the intensive work engaged in during 2011 will be announced and presented in detail. The implementation of new standards and the ICNDT MRA could result in the global NDT community drawing closer together in many ways.

There is still a great deal of on-going activity in our field, making our profession’s ‘Current Affairs’ a very dynamic topic. It is certain that, with the number and range of developments in progress, we shall continue to enjoy an interesting time for the next few years.

This workshop will explain the background that has led to many these exciting projects and developments, and will present the details for each, with particular attention being given to implementation and the effects upon the NDT community in general, and on NDT Practitioners and Personnel Certification Bodies in particular.

Attendance at this workshop is a must for practitioners, employers, end users (plant owner/operators), regulators, personnel certification bodies and accreditors.
